PROJECT GOAL

Create a logo that represents my brand

I started off by sketching a couple of different logo ideas ranging from simple to more complex. Rather than do something traditional with my name or initials, I wanted the overall theme of my logo to be fun and have a sense of nostalgia. After coming down to 3 ideas that I thought could be potential logos, I realized that I gravitated more toward the sketch of my face with a party hat on.

INITIAL BRAINSTORMING

This baby photo of me on my 2nd birthday was my inspiration for the final logo

REFERENCE PHOTO

Upon deciding that I wanted my logo to be the baby photo of me with a party hat on, I revised my original sketch. In the revised sketch, I made the eyebrows a lot thinner and added an extra segment to the hair so that it would give the overall shape of the logo a rounder-softer feel.

To tie further into the aspect of nostalgia, I also took inspiration from a childhood favorite Japanese candy called Milky

REVISED SKETCH

COLOR PALETTE

I picked out colors that were similar to the colors present in the baby photo I was using as inspiration. In the photo, I was wearing a vibrant pink shirt but since I felt that the cool-tone pink shirt clashed with the warm-tone yellow part hat, I decided to tweak the color of the shirt to be a warm brick red. Instead of using pure black for my hair, I wanted the overall logo to be a little softer so I opted for a dark chocolate brown.

DESIGN PROCESS

Started building out the base of the logo by using multiple layers of ellipses and triangles

Utilized the pen tool to make the eyes, nose, and mouth

Finished off by filling in the colors and adding facial details
